Filtration Membrane Discs
Thin, precut membrane rounds for high-throughput, fast filtration of liquid and gas samples. Gridded and non-gridded discs. Various materials including mixed cellulose ester, polycarbonate, PTFE, nylon, and PVDF. For air monitoring/analytical research.
Sizes
Filter membranes are made in a range of diameters, typically designed to fit a specific holder or manifold.
Materials
Filter membrane can be made from cellulose, mixed cellulose esters (MCE), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polyethersulfone (PES), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), nylon, polycarbonate (PC), polyester, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polypropylene (PP). Other membrane materials include aluminum oxide, gelatin, porcelain, and glass.
Pore Size
The size of membrane pores determines which particles will be retained by the filter. A pore size of 0.2 µm is small enough to remove microbes from solutions; a 0.45 µm ore size can remove larger particulates.
Color and Grids
White membrane filters may be plain or marked with square grids (outlined in black) that can help with enumerating particles. Gridded or plain black membrane filters may be helpful when filtering light-colored particulates.
Sterility
Filter membranes may be pre-sterilized or may be sterilized using ethylene oxide, gamma irradiation, or autoclaves. The need for sterility is determined by the application, which are many and varied:
- Light microscopy samples
- Cytology sample preparation
- Electron microscopy samples
- Air quality and other environmental monitoring
- Water analysis and water quality testing
- Microbiology colony counting and quality control
- Chemotaxis
- Sterile preparation of buffers, tissue culture media, microbiological media, and other biological fluids

EZLabpure™ PVDF Hydrophilic Membrane Filters designed for high-performance sample clarification and sterile filtration of aqueous and protein-sensitive solutions. Manufactured with premium polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes, these membrane filter discs provide low protein binding, excellent chemical resistance, and consistent flow rates for laboratory applications. Available in 0.22 um and 0.45 um pore sizes, and offered in 13 mm, 25 mm, 47 mm, 90 mm, and 142 mm diameters, all variants are non-sterile for research and analytical use. All filters are non-sterile and comply with USP Class VI Standards.
These Filtration Membrane Disc Filters have excellent water wettability, providing high flow rate. PVDF membranes are naturally hydrophobic but are modified to a hydrophilic nature, making them useful for a wide range of applications, both aqueous and non-aggressive solvents-based. These membranes are typically low protein binding and are used for sterilizing filtration.

365-3811-OEM: EZFlow Membrane Disc Filter, 0.45um Hydrophobic PTFE, 90mm, 25/pack. EZFlow 13mm, 25mm, 47mm, and 90mm membrane disc filters are used to retain particles or microorganisms by surface capture. The membrane disc filters are available in Nylon or Hydrophobic PTFE with polypropylene support, in 0.2um or 0.45um pore sizes. The Nylon membrane has great chemical resistance, and is ideal for filtering more aggressive solutions such as alcohols and DMSO. The Hydrophobic PTFE membrane is bonded to a polypropylene support. Due to its extreme chemical compatibility, they are ideal for the filtration of solvents and acids, or other aggressive chemicals. All materials comply with USP Class VI Standards and FDA compliances.

The LabExact Membrane Filter is a 47mm diameter hydrophilic polyethersulfone membrane filter with 0.45μm pore size. It has low protein binding and is compatible with aqueous and organic solvents. The polyethersulfone membrane is sterilized by gamma irradiation. This filter is well-suited for analytical sample preparation including HPLC mobile phase filtration and clarification and sterilization of aqueous and organic solutions. It has a high flow rate and loading capacity. The polyethersulfone construction provides thermal, chemical and mechanical stability.
